Trimming Our Oak Tree

We needed to trim back our oak tree and also cut out all the dead branches. I got 4 quotes and not only was Joe the most competitive, but he was also the quickest in responding to my queries and answering all my questions. Joe came across as competent, professional and experienced, and very customer oriented. His team that did the job were friendly and efficient and careful in ensuring that branches did not fall into the neighbour’s garden. They took all branches away with them as agreed, and tidied up the garden afterwards. Even my neighbour gave positive feedback saying they did a “very neat and careful job”. And more importantly, the shape of the trimmed back oak tree is excellent and I am a happy customer.

Red Oak Tree

I had a problem with a very large red oak tree with a TPO, some evidence of disease and over hanging my neighbour’s property. After acquiring planning permission to pollard the tree I obtained three quotes for the work.Joe’s was the most competitive and he the most reactive. He used an impressive machine that clasped a limb and out popped a chain saw severing the branch. With a reach of 27 metres the machine reduced the red oak to the agreed size, transported the bulk timber off sited. tidied the garden. all in one day and with nothing dropping in my neighbour’s garden. Joe and his teamed did an amazingly good job. He is very customer focused and quietly efficient. I thoroughly recommend him to you for your tree surgeon work.

Our Professional Approach

Thorough Initial Assessment

Every job begins with a comprehensive site assessment. We examine the tree’s health, structure, and location. We consider your concerns and goals. We identify any constraints like access limitations, overhead wires, or nearby structures. This thorough evaluation allows us to develop the safest, most effective approach for your specific situation.

Clear Communication and Transparent Quotes

We believe you should understand exactly what work we’re proposing and why. Our quotes are detailed and transparent, explaining the work required and the associated costs. We’re happy to answer questions and discuss options. You’ll never feel pressured or confused about what you’re getting.

Safety-First Execution

Tree work is inherently hazardous, which is why safety is our absolute priority. We follow rigorous safety protocols, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and employ proper rigging and cutting techniques. Our team is trained to work safely around obstacles, power lines, and structures. We also take steps to protect your property, using measures like ground protection mats and careful debris management.

Our Comprehensive Tree Care Services

We offer a complete range of professional arborist services designed to keep your trees healthy, safe, and beautiful. Whether you need routine maintenance or emergency intervention, our team has the expertise to help.

Tree Removal and Felling

Sometimes tree removal is necessary, whether due to disease, storm damage, safety concerns, or development plans. Our tree removal services in East Hampshire are conducted with meticulous care to protect your property and surrounding landscape.

We assess each situation individually, considering factors like tree size, location, proximity to structures, and access constraints. Using advanced rigging techniques and specialised equipment, we can safely remove trees in even the most challenging locations. Every removal includes complete site clearance, leaving your property tidy and ready for whatever comes next.

Expert Tree Pruning and Maintenance

Regular pruning is essential for tree health, safety, and aesthetics. Our tree maintenance services include

  • Crown Reduction: Carefully reducing the overall size of the tree’s canopy while maintaining its natural shape, ideal for trees that have outgrown their space or pose risks to buildings.
  • Crown Lifting: Removing lower branches to provide clearance for buildings, vehicles, pedestrians, or to allow more light to reach your garden.
  • Crown Thinning: Selective removal of branches to reduce density, allowing better light penetration and air circulation while maintaining the tree’s structure.

Each pruning technique serves a specific purpose, and we’ll recommend the approach that best meets your trees’ needs and your property goals.

Professional Hedge Trimming Services

Well-maintained hedges enhance your property’s curb appeal and provide privacy, wind protection, and habitat for wildlife. Our hedge trimming services keep your hedges healthy, dense, and beautifully shaped.

We understand the best times to trim different hedge species and use proper techniques that promote vigorous growth. Whether you have a formal hedge that requires precise shaping or an informal hedgerow that needs tidying, we deliver results that look professional and last.

Stump grinding in action

Stump Grinding and Removal

That unsightly stump in your lawn doesn’t have to be permanent. Our stump grinding services completely remove stumps below ground level, allowing you to reclaim usable space, eliminate tripping hazards, and prevent regrowth.

We use professional-grade stump grinders that efficiently reduce stumps to wood chips, which can be removed or used as mulch in your garden. We’ll restore the area, leaving you with a level surface ready for lawn, planting, or paving.

Common Tree Care Questions We Can Help With

We understand that tree care can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re facing problems for the first time. Here are some of the common situations and questions we help customers navigate:

If you’re concerned about a tree’s safety, trust your instincts and seek professional assessment. Warning signs include significant lean, large dead branches, fungal growth on the trunk, cracks in major limbs, root damage, or extensive dead areas in the canopy. We provide thorough assessments to give you clear answers and recommendations.

Tree removal costs vary based on tree size, location, access, and complexity. A small tree in an open area costs significantly less than a large tree near power lines or buildings. We provide free, no-obligation quotes so you’ll know exactly what to expect before any work begins. Our pricing is competitive and transparent, no hidden fees or surprises.

Timing depends on the hedge species and your goals. Generally, formal hedges benefit from trimming two to three times during the growing season (typically May through September), while informal hedges may need just one annual trim. We’ll advise on the optimal timing for your specific hedges to promote healthy growth and maintain appearance.

This depends on several factors. Trees protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) or located in Conservation Areas require local authority consent before work can proceed. We have extensive experience working with TPOs and can guide you through the application process if needed. We’ll also advise if your tree is exempt from protection.

These terms are often used interchangeably in the UK. Both refer to tree care professionals trained in arboriculture. What matters most is qualification, insurance, and experience. As Arboricultural Association approved contractors, we meet rigorous professional standards regardless of which term you prefer.

Absolutely. While some tree work is seasonally dependent, many services can be performed year-round. In fact, winter is often ideal for major pruning work on deciduous trees because their structure is clearly visible and they’re dormant, reducing stress. We work throughout the year and will advise on the best timing for your specific needs.
